Important Safety Information

1. Safety Training – Provided by CarriersEdge.  All Safety training must be done every month by the 15th of every month by 5:00 PM MST, or a $100 payroll deduction will be applied every week until 100% complete.

2. VEDR - Key Indicators (KI):

  • Distracted Driving (Use of handheld electronic devices)

  • No Seatbelt

  • Speeding (10 mph or more over the posted limit)

  • Following Distance (<3 Seconds)

  • NO Camera Obstructions

3. Whip Around App– Our Operations Manager, Mike Bass, will set you up and train you to use this for every trip you run. You can also click the button below to review the app training.

4. Common Safety Issues:

  • Dock Pull-Off Procedures (Check Twice & Bang on Trailers).

  • Ensure proper Coupling of Trailers and Dollies.  Inspect 5th Wheel, King Pin, & Air Hoses, Check Safety Latch position, Ensure Locking Jaws are locked around King Pin, Perform Tug Test, Lift Landing Gear.

  • Use Truck GPS/App to avoid low bridges, etc.  Free apps include TruckMap - Truck GPS Routes

  • Use extreme caution when driving in Bad Road Conditions, including Ice, Snow, Empty Trailers, etc.

5. Quarterly Performance & Safety Bonus (P&S) – Remember to be compliant with the P&S requirements stated in your job offer. 

These include, but are not limited to:

  • No Failed Company Inspections

  • No Preventable Accidents/Incidents

  • No Citations

  • No Distracted Driving

  • Proper use of Seatbelt

  • No Speeding

  • Proper Following Distance

  • Proper use of ELD/Hours of Service

  • No failed Roadside Inspections
